Mukhiya held for taking bribe

Sitamarhi: A vigilance team from Patna, led by DSP Shiv Kumar Sah, arrested Kauria-Lalpur panchayat mukhiya Awadhesh Sah on Tuesday while accepting a bribe of Rs16,000 near Sitamarhi court premises. The money was reportedly taken from pump operator and ward-11 member Ajay Kumar Paswan for releasing his honorarium pending for the past three years at Rs2,000 per month. Ajay, a resident of Punaria village in Runnisaidpur block, had earlier complained to block and district authorities before approaching the vigilance department. After interrogation, the vigilance team took the accused mukhiya to Patna for further action.
