‘Movies have power to sensitize audience’
Patna: The state department of art, culture and the Bihar State Film Development and Finance Corporation (BSFDFC) youth in collaboration with South Asia Trust (SAT) organized women’s film festival at Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) here on Monday. Two interesting and thought-provoking films, namely, ‘Decoding Gender’ (Bengali) and ‘Sita Ke Badalte Roop’ (Hindi) were screened on the occasion.Speaking at the inaugural session, Sushma Kumari, OSD in the state department of art and culture, said movies are the mirrors of the society and they have the power to sensitize the audience on various social issues. “To maintain a balance in the society we must have exposure to physical and mental wisdom,” she said. Pawas Mandhar of South Asia Trust said that the movies highlight issues relating to women’s empowerment. Artist and DD announcer Sangeeta Raman appreciated the fact that now a days the younger generations are also interested in film making, acting, direction, singing and other relevant art.CIMP director Rana Singh said the films and documentaries produced in India must highlight our rich cultural heritage.Earlier, Ranjit Tiwary of CIMP welcomed the guests. Mohd Tariq Iqbal proposed a vote of thanks. A large number of students watched both the films.
