CHHAPRA: The Chhapra Municipal Corporation (CMC) has prepared a blueprint to get this town free from waterlogging. It has taken up steps to solve the problem after identifying six exit points with a view to provide clear flow of rainwater during monsoon. The CMC is trying to install a sump machine on the pattern of cities like Patna to clear the choked exit points of some of the drains, said municipal commissioner Sumit Kumar on Monday after inspecting different places prone to waterlogging.
"There are six exit points - 'Bhikhari Chowk point, Khanua sluice gate point, Bhagwan Bazaar point, Kashi Bazaar point and Saran Academy point," he said and added that the ongoing construction work of double-decker flyover has also added to the woes. Drains at some of the places have complexly choked or are in a dilapidated state and efforts were on to remove such hurdles.
Regarding installation of sump machines, the commissioner said, "We have to find out the required capacity of the motor of the machines and identify the places for their installation." Kumar said he has feedback that the 'Thana Road' of Bhagwan Bazaar area has waterlogging problem because of the low level of the existing road. He suggested the officials concerned to temporarily raise its height. He also said that he has noticed that at several places, the level of drains is higher than the existing roads causing waterlogging.
