Soon after the local news channel started showing the video on Thursday, Motihari SP Upendra Sharma directed SDPO Murli Manohar Manjhi to inquire into the matter.
Manejar said one Dhiran Rai of his village was engaged in illegal liquor trade about which he had informed the Turkaulia police several times and the latter was arrested twice. “Assuming that we are informing the police, Dhiran and his associates attacked my family and made murderous attack on my mother last week when she was alone at home at the time of the incident,” said Manejar.
Manejar later alleged in a complaint filed with Turkaulia police station that Mishra was supervising the case and visited the village on Wednesday and asked his mother to send him to his office at Motihari.
“When I visited his office, Mishra said if I want to make my case strong, I will have to pay Rs20,000. I paid him only Rs15,000 with the assurance to sent the culprits to jail. But, he made my case weak under the influence of liquor traders,” Manejar alleged.
The SP said he has directed the DSP Sadar to inquire into the video and record the statements of all the people from whom the inspector allegedly extorted money.
