PATNA/GAYA: Amid disconcerting and disorienting claims made by some functionaries of the saffron party that they were inclined towards changing the country’s Constitution, PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday said neither he nor the BJP favoured it, as the same Constitution helped keep the country’s vast diversity intact and facilitate economic growth. Addressing twin election rallies in Gaya and Purnia, the PM rebutted the opposition's charge that the BJP wanted to scrap the Constitution.

“It is the same Constitution that helped me rise from humble origins and become the PM of the country. I am indebted to Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s samvidhan,” the PM said , adding even Dr B R Ambedkar cannot change the Constitution.
