PATNA: CPI-ML (Liberation) general secretary
Dipankar Bhattacharya on Wednesday said
Bihar was a testing ground (prayogshala) for the Left where they would defeat "Hindutvavadi and Brahmanvadi" forces. He also called upon party members to intensify their agitation against such forces.
He was addressing the three-day 10th state convention at Sasaram on its concluding day on Wednesday. More than 700 party workers and leaders from Bihar and across the country took part in the convention, which was christened 'Samajik Parivartan Jan-sammelan' (Peoples' convention for social change).
"The country is facing threat from fascist forces and the question before communists and democrats is how to face and defeat them. It's not possible by tagging along with the
Congress or going the Mahagathbandhan way in Bihar polls, as the latter lack the energy to fight the BJP," Bhattacharya said .
He underlined the need of larger unity among various classes to fight the fascist forces. "It will only be possible by battling caste and community-based atrocities. We need to follow the ideologies of Bhagat Singh and B R Ambedkar, symbols of rebellion, to protect our land and its people. Only class unity can break the Brahmanvadi social structure," he said.
Bhattacharya said the country and its people were standing at a crossroads.
"Here, it is for us to expedite the social and political changes by uniting the poor, dalits, workers, farmers, students, youths, minorities and adivasis," he said and added this would create an opportunity for the CPI-ML to expand itself by representing the hard-working people of the country. TNN
