Patna: Sports minister
Shreyasi Singh on Saturday said when women lead, everyone benefits.
Shreyasi, who praised CM
Nitish Kumar’s governance model and met BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Friday in Delhi where she was reportedly called to attend a crucial party meeting, was addressing a press meet at the BJP office.
BJP is likely to name its CM face in Bihar after CM Nitish Kumar quits the post early next week and a new NDA govt is formed in the state.
The Commonwealth shooting gold medallist said when women are given the opportunity, they do not merely hold office, but also strengthen governance. “India has always viewed women as ‘Shakti’ (power),” she said while praising PM Narendra Modi for bringing the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ which will facilitate 33% quota for women in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies after the Constitution amendment likely during the special Parliament session from April 16 to 18.
Shreyasi said this legislation has been introduced with great foresight and is now poised to become law. She expressed hope that not only the BJP and the NDA, but also the opposition would extend their support to this legislation.
