Minister: Ensure facilities for Sikh devotees during Prakash Parv
Patna: State tourism minister Arun Shankar Prasad on Monday assessed preparations for the 359th Prakash Parv of Sikhism’s 10 Sikh Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. At a meeting held at the tourism department office in the main secretariat, he conducted a detailed review of arrangements related to tourist facilities, accommodation and information centres for Sikh devotees and congregations arriving from across the country and abroad for the Prakash Parv.
The minister directed departmental officials to ensure that all works are completed in a time-bound manner while maintaining high quality standards. Following the meeting, Prasad inspected the tent city under construction at Kangan Ghat in Patna Sahib.
“It is a matter of privilege for us to take responsibility for welcoming Sikh congregations coming to Patna Sahib on Prakash Parv. The Bihar govt’s objective is that every devotee experiences our hospitality tradition, cleanliness and spirit of service. The celebrations of Prakash Parv will give a new identity to Bihar’s cultural prestige and religious tourism,” read an official statement issued by the tourism minister.
During his inspection of the tent city at Kangan Ghat, Prasad reviewed arrangements related to accommodation, food, drinking water, medical facilities, transportation and the information centre. He asked the officials concerned to ensure close coordination among all departments so that devotees receive a comfortable and safe experience at every level.
The minister said the state govt is working to establish better coordination among related departments, including tourism, transport, art and culture, and urban development, keeping in mind the needs of devotees. He added that these efforts are aimed at more firmly establishing Patna Sahib on the global map of religious tourism.
Tourism secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh said all necessary preparations have been completed by the department. He said the tent city, equipped with high-level facilities, is in the final stages of completion along with a tourist information centre.
The meeting was attended by tourism director Udayan Mishra, joint director Rajesh Raushan, general manager of Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) Chandan Chauhan, along with other officials.
