Patna: Union minister for communications and information technology Ravi Shankar Prasad has urged Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Patna researchers to take the lead in 5G technology innovations to help provide ultra-high speed internet connectivity.
Inaugurating an international symposium on 5G technology hosted by the IITP on Tuesday, the minister said, "As India moves towards implementation of 4G, it must become the leader in research and development of 5G technology."

"The IIT-Patna has already taken a lead in innovation in the field of medical electronics by starting an incubation centre for the same," Prasad said.
At least 30 speakers from the industry, academia and government organisations in India and abroad have been invited, said IITP's Preetam Kumar, the organizing chair of the 5G symposium. "The symposium aims to serve as a platform for researchers, corporate houses and government organizations to share their research intuitions and views over the possible 5G technologies and pave the way for autonomous research and development of 5G technologies in India," he said.
Old boys' association: Former students of Ram Mohan Roy Seminary School have formed an association of the school alumni. It has currently 75 members. The association will meet on last Sunday of every month and discuss ways to strengthen their organisation, said Sunil Kumar, commandant of the CRPF's 6th battalion and a 1983-batch student of the school. tnn
