Met forecasts widespread rain from tomorrow

Patna: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate rainfall across the state from Sunday while issuing a heavy rainfall alert for five southern districts — Rohtas, Kaimur, Aurangabad, Gaya and Nawada — on Saturday. A thunderstorm and lightning warning has also been issued for several areas in 24 districts, including Patna.Other districts under this alert include West and East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Buxar, Bhojpur, Arwal, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Munger, Jamui and Banka. On Saturday, Patna and most of the southern districts are expected to witness moderate rainfall at multiple locations, whereas scattered rain is likely in northern districts such as West and East Champaran, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Madhepura and Saharsa.The IMD's bulletin, released on Friday, suggests there will be no significant change in maximum or minimum temperatures over the next five days. For Saturday, the southern districts are expected to record maximum temperatures between 32°C and 34°C, followed by a likely dip of two degrees. The minimum temperature across the state was recorded between 26°C and 28°C.Patna experienced overcast skies on Friday, accompanied by moderate winds and humidity. The city's maximum temperature was recorded at 33.9°C, with a minimum of 28.1°C. Rainfall activity has subsided slightly over the past two days. On Thursday, four districts received rainfall, while five districts recorded rain on Friday. Gaya logged 14.6mm of rain, and Dehri recorded 22.6mm. Bhagalpur, Bhojpur and Patna also witnessed light showers.Banka recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 25.7°C, while Gopalganj had the state's highest maximum at 38.2°C.
