PATNA: The two-day convention of the CITU-affiliated Bihar-Jharkhand Rajya Vidyut Parishad Field Kamgar Union commenced here on Monday at Vidyapati Bhavan with the members of the union shouting slogans opposing the privatisation of Bihar State Electricity Board.
The union members were shouting "Jaan denge, khoon denge, vidyut board ka nijikaran nahi hone denge" all through the convention.

CITU general secretary Arun Kumar Mishra, while addressing the convention, congratulated the workers for the successful strike on February 27, 2007 when there was no electricity in the state for 24 hours.
Senior CPM leader Vijay Kant Thakur said modern life cannot be imagined without electricity. He also asked the workers to continue their fight against the privatisation of the board.
