Patna: Three unidentified criminals shot dead medicine trader

The footage of a closed-circuit camera installed at a nearby private girls' hostel shows Anil opening his shop when three criminals came on foot and fired at him before running away toward Makhaniakuan. Police sources said doctors at Patna Medial College and Hospital declared Anil brought dead. He was shot thrice. "One bullet hit his shoulder while two were pumped in his abdomen," said a PMCH doctor.

Arjun Yadav said, "He had never complained about any extortion threat. The motive behind the murder is not known."
Anil is survived by wife Jyoti and a 13-year-old son. Local police said Anil had a fight with a roadside hawker around 15 days back. A group of local youths had also got involved in the brawl and one person was sent to jail in connection with the incident. "We are investigating the case from various angles. Nobody has made any complaint against extortion demand. It seems the criminals used country-made pistols and fired four rounds, though Anil received three bullets. The shooters in 20-22 years of age group are visible in the closed-circuit camera footage," said Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj.
