PATNA: Girl students appearing for matriculation examination beginning Tuesday were accorded a warm welcome at a government high school in Muzaffarpur. School authorities said the idea was aimed at boosting the confidence of the examinees and easing their mental stress.
The girl examinees reaching to appear for exam at Chapman Government Girls High School, Muzaffarpur, had a pleasant surprise when the schoolteachers, all dressed in pink saris, welcomed them with vermillion mark on their forehead, showered them with flower petals, handed them chocolates and wished them good luck as they lined up to go inside the examination centre.
“The idea is aimed at easing the exam stress and making them treat the examination as a celebration. If they learn to treat exams as celebration, all issues will get automatically solved,” school official Mritunjay Kumar said. Stating quite many children had been suffering from exam phobia, Kumar said they want to boost up the confidence of the examinees by extending warm welcome. Around 1700 students have been appearing at the examination at this particular centre.
Of late, the girls have shown a rare enthusiasm for study in the state.
This year, a total of 16.35 lakh students are appearing at the matriculation exam of which majority of them are girls.
The total number of girl students appearing at the exam is over 8.31 lakh against 8.06 lakh boys. Reports said the number of girl students enrolling themselves in the schools have registered a sudden increase in the aftermath of chief minister
