A group of maoists allegedly abducted a porter from Madhusudan halt in Munger and torched some of the railway station property late Tuesday night.

PATNA: A group of maoists allegedly abducted a porter from Madhusudan halt in Munger and torched some of the railway station property late Tuesday night.
The Maoists also forced the porter to call Malda DRM asking him not to ply trains else Maoists will kill him.
Due to the incident, the Jamalpur-Kiul section of railways has been shut down. Several trains have been stopped at different stations.
The CPI (Maoist) had called for a bandh from December 18 to 20 to protest against 'Operation Green Hunt' which is continuing in Bihar and Jharkhand against Maoists.

Bihar and Jharkhand police were jointly working on the operation in bordering area with the help of CRPF.
"Due to the maoists activity, train services has been stopped by Eastern Railway between Kiul-Jamalpur-Bhagalpur section of Malda Division from 07.00 hours. The trains which are affected are 13414 Farakka Express, 13242 Banka Express, 53042 Jaynagar Howrah Passenger, 13420 Muzaffarpur Bhagalpur Jan Sewa Express," said Rajesh Kumar, CPRO Eastern Central Railway.
