The two Maoist activists were arrested in a joint operation conducted by an Intelligence Bureau team from Delhi, Sashastra Seema Bal, special task force of Bihar Police and Gaya police.

District SSP Ashish Bharti said Mishra, a resident of Kasma village in Aurangabad district, was working to revive the rebel outfit, and was holding meetings in the area. He was wanted in several cases of Maoist violence in Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and some other states.

The SSP said on the instructions of Mishra, the Maoists had hanged four people of a family in Gaya in 2021 after dubbing them police informers. Mishra was the think tank who organised the Maoist Communist Centre in undivided Bihar, which now constitute Jharkhand. He was later instrumental in activating the outfit in Haryana, Punjab and J&K and was also made in charge of Delhi operations of CPI (Maoist).
