Maoist group carrying grenade launcher enters Bihar

PATNA: The latest intelligence input from the security forces, a large number of members of CPI (Maoist) along with an under barrel grenade launcher (UBGL) have entered the state from

through Jharkhand. They have come mainly to strengthen the existing organization of

Bihar Jharkhand Special Area Committee

(BJSAC).

Police recovered three sophisticated weapons including two INSAS and one under barrel grenade launcher (UBGL) from the three slain Maoists after the July 18 police-Maoist encounter at the Dumari Nala in

Aurangabad

district in which 10 CoBRA jawans lost their lives. An officer with the security forces said, “We have input that the group which has entered the state is carrying a UBGL which is not country made. They have probably come to reinstate their ongoing operation in Bihar against the security forces as they had also lost six cadre members in the July 18 encounter.”

Sources said that UBGL which is not country made and is being used by any ultra-group is definitely looted from security forces. “No private agency is licensed to import UBGL in India. Only government can import UBGL for security forces and is generally imported from Russia.”

The Maoist cadres are currently quite active in the Jamui, Gaya and Aurangabad areas and are planning to strike again. According to the sources with the security forces Parvesh alias Anuj alias Sahdev Soren, Sidhu Koda alias Sidhu Majhi, Pintu Rana alias Rajesh Rana who are on the top 10 wanted list of the security forces are active in the Jamui area now.

“The local cadres of Bihar and

naxalites are not expert in firing. They are more into levy collection and whenever they plan any major attack, they get back up from Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh,” the source said.

The source said, “Due to the continuous interstate joint operations many of the arms corridors and shelters of the Maoists have been destroyed by the security forces. But recently they have adopted one route which starts from Andhra Pradesh to Odissa and via Jharkhand to

West Bengal

. Then they either enter Bihar or go to North-East. The second route is from Maharashtra then Chhattisgarh via Jharkhand they enter Bihar and finally reach North-East. The route is like inverted ‘Y’.”

said, “Joint operations will continue till we attain our goal and even after that to keep the areas free. We cannot comment on what kind of weapons the ultras are using but security forces are also well equipped with weapons as well as trainings.
