Man kills daughter for failure in exam

MOTIHARI: A woman on Friday lodged an FIR with

in the district, accusing her husband of strangling their daughter to death after she failed in Class X board examination, the results of which were announced on Thursday.

The woman, Rubi Devi of Mirchaiya village under Kalyanpur police station, alleged that her husband, Manoj Kumar Pandey, killed their minor daughter Anjali in a fit of rage as she failed in the exam. Anjali’s body was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her house and it was initially assumed that she had committed suicide.

Police said Anjali and her younger sister Anshu had appeared for the examination together. While Anshu passed with second division, Anjali failed. Both the sisters had filled up examination form at a government high school at Parsa near Sugauli, where their maternal uncle

said the girl’s body had been sent for psotmortem. “Police have registered an FIR on the basis of the statement of the girl’s mother and efforts are on to arrest Pandey,” Rana added. Villagers said Anjali’s parents had started looking for a suitable groom for her. However, as she failed, her father became infuriated.
