Man gets 5-year RI in prohibition case
Saran: A special excise court on Thursday awarded five-year rigorous imprisonment to one Anil Rai, main accused in a case lodged under Prohibition and Excise Act in Sonepur police station. The court also slapped a fine of Rs one lakh on him. In case of failure to pay the penalty, the accused's detention in prison may be extended for one more year, the court said. Saran SP Kumar Ashish said in cases of serious nature, Saran Police would provide necessary evidence to the court for rewarding sentences to the accused. Additional district and sessions judge Atul Veer Singh awarded the punishment to Anil Rai, son of Anandi Rai, resident of Nawal Tola, under Sonepur PS.
