In a shocking turn of events, a 54-year-old man named Ajay Kumar was taken into custody for allegedly throwing stones at the Vande Bharat Express operating on the Patna-New Jalpaiguri route. The incident, which occurred on March 26, resulted in significant damage to the window panes of coach C1.
Patna: A joint team of RPF and GRP arrested a man accused of pelting stones at the Patna-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express (22234) near Bakhtiyarpur railway station under Danapur division of the East Central Railway (ECR). The accused has been identified as Ajay Kumar, 54, son of late Siddeshwar Prasad, a resident of Jhing Nagar village under Biharshraif police station area in Nalanda district.According to Bakhtiyarpur RPF inspector Jawahar Lall, the incident occurred on March 26. Stones were hurled at the moving train, causing damage to the window glass panes of the coach C1. Following the incident, RPF and GRP launched a joint investigation using CCTV footage. Local village volunteers, including ‘village mitras’, were also engaged to help trace the suspect, he said.Accused Ajay was arrested while he was entering Bakhtiyarpur railway station premises on Tuesday. An FIR was lodged under Section 153 of the Railways Act, 1989 at the RPF post in Bakhtiyarpur.
