Make Tejashwi CM at any cost: Lalu
Patna: As the NDA ramps up its campaign for re-election, RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Thursday issued a passionate appeal to party workers, urging them to ensure that his younger son, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, becomes the next CM of Bihar.
Addressing the party's state council in Patna, where Mangani Lal Mandal was formally announced as RJD's new state president, Lalu said, "You all have to work hard to remove RSS and Nitish Kumar from power to form your own govt. We have to make Tejashwi the chief minister at any cost."
Urging the marginalised to unite, Lalu said, "Poor, farmers, minorities, mazdoors – everyone must work together to form apni sarkar." Lalu also declared that only committed workers would be fielded in upcoming elections. "Jo mehnat karega, garibon ka kaam karega, use party apna ummidwar banayega."
Looking frail but determined, Lalu thanked the cadre for their decades of support. "I have been party president for 28 years. I thank you for your trust," he said.
Tejashwi, in his address, accused CM Nitish Kumar of ignoring state interests. "He skips NITI Aayog meetings but attends NDA ones. Bihar needs change," he said, calling the upcoming elections a "golden opportunity".
He unveiled a new slogan for the polls. "Paanch se Pachees, Bahut Hua Nitish", a reference to Nitish's 20-year rule from 2005 to 2025.
Former CM Rabri Devi also spoke, alleging lawlessness under the current regime. "People are being murdered in their homes and daughters are being raped. This is not ‘jungle raj', but a ‘rakshas raj'," she said.
