According to the VC, the main purpose of the cell is to expedite payment of retirement benefits to teachers and staff. “It has been observed that most of the retired teachers have not been paid their dues, including arrears and gratuity, for one reason or another, causing much hardships to them. Besides, the cell will keep a close watch on the teachers’ issues as well as problems facing students due to inordinate delay in clearing backlog of examinations at both the undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) levels,” he said.
Besides, the university has taken a decision to regularise the academic sessions and clear all backlog of examinations within a few months. There are 22 PG departments running on the sprawling campus of the university at Bodh Gaya. The 61-year-old university has 19 constituent, 39 affiliated, two medical, one dental, two engineering and three law colleges located in five districts - Gaya, Arwal, Aurangabad, Jehanabad and Nawada, the VC said.
An important highlight of the university is that it has a huge central library having 1,62, 245 books to cater to the needs of research scholars and PG students. It has eight hostels for accommodating 1500 boys and one girls’ hostel for 150 girls on its campus.
According to the VC, the university has issued a directive to all PG heads, teachers and office staff to remain present in their respective departments and office daily. The university will introduce biometric attendance system for all teachers and office staff from April 1, he said.
