Madhubani hospital releases list of 23 accident victims
Madhubani: The Madhubani sadar hospital on Tuesday released a list of 23 victims who were killed in Monday’s bus accident. The bus they were travelling in fell into a deep water reservoir on Benipatti-Sitamarhi road near Basaith village under Benipatti police station area in Madhubani district around noon on Monday.
The official list of victims include Aklu Sah (60), Md Sultan (03), Gudia Devi (39), Anju Kumari (07), Anshu Kumari (03), Umesh Mandal (54), Md Sarfaraj (45), all from Sitamarhi district, while Md Afran (01), Hasina Khatoon (25) and Kamar Imam alias Guddu(22), were from Darbhanga district, Pawitri Devi (45), Kamali Devi (45), Nirmala Devi (45), Aniruddha Pahalwan (65), Savia Khatoon (05), Sabana Khatoon (13), Anjali Kumari (12), Monika Khatoon (40), Md Amirul (21), Ashia Praveen (03), Munni Khatoon (35) and Md Guljar (09), were from Madhubani district. One of bodies, which is of a old man, is yet to be identified.
Talking to newsmen at the circuit house on Tuesday morning, state revenue minister Madan Mohan Jha while expressing deep anguish over the tragic incident said chief minister Nitish Kumar has asked to pay ex gratia to the family of even those victims whose bodies were not brought for postmortem.
Meanwhile, chief spokesperson of state BJP Vinod Narain Jha has demanded at least Rs10lakh be paid to the family of each of the victim. Expressing deep shock over the incident, he requested the CM to personally visit the area. He was also critical of the district administration for its inept handling of the situation.
