LNMU PG entrance test on October 23

Samastipur: The decision of L N Mithila University (LNMU) to organise competitive examinations to select deserving candidates for admission to PG courses has sent shivers down young graduates' spine. The candidates are afraid that they may not crack the examination which will be conducted at the university headquarters in Darbhanga where they will hardly have any chance to use unfair means to come out with flying colours.The exam is scheduled to be held on October 23.
Thousands of students willing to pursue P G courses in arts and science streams at Samastipur College and R B College, Dalsingsarai, constituent units of LNMU have applied online to take the competitive exam. A woman aspirant, who identified herself only by her nickname Neelima, said, "Maine BA mein kuchh nahin padha. Ab yeh mai musibat." She wanted to know if some "pairvi" was possible in this regard. Most of the P G aspirants echoed similar sentiments. However, some also supported the new provision for admission to PG courses though they may be in a microscopic minority. Archana Kumari, who has graduated with honours in English, said it was a welcome step and hoped that this will force students to study and not procure fake certificates. She, however, demanded that teachers be appointed to improve academic environment on the campus.
Dr Prabhat Kumar and Dr S N Tiwary, secretary and president, respectively, of Samastipur College Teachers' Association have welcomed the introduction of competitive exam, saying that it would contain the ever-growing crowd of students seeking to acquire PG degrees for nothing besides toning up the academic environment on the campuses.
