PATNA: Former minister
Abdul Malik and LJP's extremely backward caste (EBC) cell general secretary Vinod Choudhary, along with party's district office-bearers from Samastipur on Wednesday joined the
Congress in the presence of state Congress president Choudhary Mahboob Ali Qaiser at Sadaqat Ashram here.
Speaking on the occasion, Qaiser said the Congress was emerging as a major political force in the state under the overall leadership provided by the party president Sonia Gandhi.
Welcoming the new entrants to the party, he said their joining the state Congress would further strengthen it and the party was set to regain its lost glory.
Meanwhile, the state Youth Congress chief Lalan Kumar has deferred the proposed division-level conferences of the state Youth Congress till further order in view of the floods in north Bihar divisions of Darbhanga, Tirhut, Koshi, Purnia and Saran. The Youth Congress workers and leaders would dedicate themselves to working for the flood victims.
He termed the statewide "chakka jaam" programme of the Youth Congress held on August 28 a success. Terming the police crackdown on the organisation's workers and activists on the day as "barbaric", Kumar said police also instituted cases against him and three other youth workers. The cases instituted were false, he said, adding that he had not gone underground, and instead, he was doing organisational work with other workers. He also expressed faith in the judiciary.
