on Friday said Bihar
is far ahead of other states in literacy growth rate, which is 16.82% as against the national average of 9.28%. The deputy CM said this while inaugurating the 19th annual conference of "Akshar Vihar" under the auspices of Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI) here at the Indira Gandhi Planetarium.
He said the state government's initiatives in the literacy mission were now showing results.
The government was committed to inclusive growth, for which several schemes for mahadalits, minorities, extremely backward classes and slum dwellers are in progress. Modi also said that Bihar was contributing 25% to the central scheme, "Sakshar Bharat".
ADRI member secretary Shaibal Gupta, Child Rights Protection Commission chairperson Nisha Jha and ADRI director P P Ghosh also spoke on this occasion.
