Land dispute is the reason behind the killings, Lakhisarai SP Arvind Thakur told this correspondent over phone. “Both the rival groups are ‘gotia’ (close relatives),” the SP said and added that the dispute over land had been going on since 2009.
Kajra police station SHO Sanjiv Kumar said the assailants attacked the house of the deceased with firearms and lethal weapons and pierced the deceased bodies with daggers. The deceased were identified as Ramshekhar Singh (60), Ripu Singh (40) and Sanjiv Singh(40). Ripu was the nephew of Ramshekhar. Ramshekhar was a prosperous farmer while his nephew Ripu was a teacher in a private school. Sanjiv was also a close relative of Ramshekhar.
On reaching the spot early Friday morning, Kajra police had to face a tough time. Only when the SP assured the angry villagers to arrest the culprits soon that they allowed the bodies to be carried away to Lakhisarai sadar hospital for autopsy. No one was arrested in the case till late evening, the police said.
