PATNA: Two key accused in Kankerbagh power sub-station land

– Patna sadar deputy collector land reforms (DCLR) Kumar Mithilesh and claimant of the land Devendra Kumar – are still evading arrest.

The FIR in connection with the case was lodged against four persons by Patna collectorate senior deputy collector Manoj Kumar Jha on Thursday with the Patrakar Nagar police station. Two other accused – sadar circle officer

and revenue clerk

Anil Kumar Lal

– were arrested by the police on Thursday. The duo were allegedly involvement in selling 69,000 square feet land of the 50MW sub-station to Devendra.

The plot was originally in procession of the South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (

SBPDCL

).

said raids were on to arrest the DCLR and Devendra. “The offices of DCLR and CO were inspected by a police team on Thursday and Friday,” he said, adding the sadar ASP

is investigating the case. Kushwaha said the FIR was lodged under different sections of Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

“Investigations are on to ascertain if the accused are involved in other similar scams. We are investigating the antecedents of Devendra, who connived with the officials to purchase the land,” Kushwaha added.

He said Devendra, who resides at Saguna Mor in Danapur, claimed the ownership of the power sub-station land and Lal prepared a report, which was submitted to CO, who allowed mutation. Later, the DCLR also issued land possession certificate to Devendra.
