Lalu's Bhagalpur rally against Srijan scam was a 'suicidal street play': Nitish Kumar

against Srijan scam as a “suicidal street play” of RJD. “Wait for a few days, they will get to know how their ‘nukkad natak’ (street play) is going to be proved suicidal for them", he said.

Nitish was referring to RJD’s Sunday rally at Bhagalpur in which Lalu and his two legislator sons- Tej Pratap and Tejashwi Prasad Yadav--made vitriolic attack on Bihar CM by using some derogatory remarks against him. The rally, which was christened as “Srijan Ke Durjan Ka Visarjan Yatra” (a protest march to expose and pack up the monsters involved in multi-crore Srijan scam), was organised mainly to highlight the state government’s failure to stop fraudulent transfer of government funds from bank accounts of different departments to the bank accounts of a woman cooperative society named as Srijan Mahila Vikas Sahyog Samiti (SMVSS). Lalu chose Bhagalpur for holding the rally because the SMVSS headquarters is there.

Peeved at the use of some objectionable words for him at the public rally, Nitish, without taking anyone's name, said, “Some people have made a habit of speaking anything. Let them speak what they desire. But I will not cross the dignity of language. I will continue to maintain the dignity in my language in public debates.”

He also said he didn’t want to indulge in any debate with those people who do not know how to maintain decorum in public speeches.

Lalu, while addressing Sunday’s rally, had questioned why Nitish Kumar stays at the house of a particular friend rather than the government circuit house during his visit to Bhagalpur. Lalu had also questioned release of a grant of Rs 50 crore to a Bhagalpur-based institute of naturopathy. Lalu’s elder son Tej Pratap also made a highly objectionable remark for the CM at the rally.

Responding to a query related to the Srijan scam, Nitish asked the RJD leaders to approach the court if they do not have faith in the ongoing CBI probe into the scam.

“I have been telling even you people (media persons) to submit to CBI, if you have or any person have any evidences against any person. The CBI will look into those evidences. If you don’t have faith on the CBI, people are free to go to court either high court or Supreme Court, seeking monitoring of the investigation by the CBI,” Nitish said.

Earlier on September 4, Nitish had described the RJD's “BJP Bhagao, Desh Bachao” rally on August 27 here as a “family function” of Lalu Prasad.
