PATNA: BJP on Monday demanded institution of a criminal case against RJD supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav''s legislator brother-in-law Subhash Yadav for terrorising officials of state excise and commercial taxes departments.
"Subhash Yadav has virtually let loose a reign of terror in the two departments being de fecto controlled by him. State Excise Minister Shivanand Tiwari has virtually no say in his ministry," Opposition leader in state assembly and senior BJP leader S K Modi said.
Accusing Subhash Yadav of having emerged as a new power centre in Bihar, Modi alleged that the RJD MLC (Subhash) had recently made a threatening call to a top commercial taxes department official while seeking an undue favour from him.
Modi claimed that Subhash, on May 28, had allegedly threatened an Assistant Commissioner of commercial taxes department Shiv Sahay Singh with dire consequences if he did not oblige him (Subhash) by giving a no objection certificate to a firm in Biharsharif for manufacturing spiced and country-made liquors.
He said Singh had on May 28 in a letter to the Commissioner of the commercial taxes department, Patna, expressed his inability to carry forward work under undue pressure and proceeded on protest leave.
