PATNA: Defending Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on former IPL chief Lalit Modi’s recent allegation, former Delhi Police commissioner and ex Kerala Governor Nikhil Kumar on Sunday said LaMo was levelling such wild allegations in connivance with the BJP with a motive to divert the nation’s attention from “serious charges” against external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje.
Lalit Modi had on Friday alleged that Rahul Gandhi and his brother-in-law Robert Vadra were beneficiaries of his hospitality during his tenure as IPL commissioner.
“Lalit Modi is hand in glove with some BJP leaders. He is levelling charges against Rahul Ji as part of a deep conspiracy and with a motive to divert the nation’s attention from the serious charges related to Sushma Swaraj and Raje,” Kumar said.
“Earlier, LaMo tweeted something related to Priyanka Gandhi. But when she denied, he has now started sending message on twitter regarding Rahul Gandhi. It’s all part of a conspiracy he has hatched with some BJP leaders to save Sushma and Raje,” he said.
Kumar also said a ‘blue corner’ notice had already been issued against Lalit Modi and handed over to Interpol. “Now the centre should issue a ‘red corner’ notice against him as soon as the validity of previous notice expires. New Delhi should coordinate with British Government to deport Lalit Modi to India,” he said adding the Indian High Commission in London should be given specific directive from New Delhi to ensure necessary actions against LaMo by British authorities.
Speaking on rising corruption under different BJP-led governments, former Kerala governor pointed out that several BJP leaders are involved in Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh, one of its ministers in Maharashtra Pankaja Munde is involved in a Rs 600 crore scam, its Chhatisgarh CM Raman Singh is also facing corruption charges of Rs 36,000 crore, while some ministers of union cabinet have already courted controversies for their role in Lalit Modi case.
“The BJP ministers in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhatisgarh are involved in corruption. They will do the same thing, if they come to power in Bihar,” Kumar said while warning the public not to vote for the saffron party in Bihar assembly elections
