PATNA: Janmashtami was celebrated with religious fervour, and several colourful programmes were organized to mark the occasion at different places.
Devotees of Lord Krishna observed fast and waited till midnight to offer puja.
CM Nitish Kumar greeted the people on the occasion and said Janmashtami festival is important as this marks the birth of Lord Krishna who preached the philosophy of `karmayoga'.

International Society for Krishna Consciousness organized a colourful `Krishna Leela' at which noted kathak dancer Briju Maharaj and his team performed. The ISKCON programme started with devotional songs by saints and devotees from foreign countries.
Vaishnav Vishwa Darshan Foundation observed the day as austerity day, said its founder Acharya Mahesh Pandit Das.
Shri Shri Shyam Mandal celebrated Janmashtami at Shree Shaktidham Seva Nyas at Agrasen Bhawan.
