PATNA: With the arrest of three persons, Patna police claimed to have busted a gang of criminals involved in fleecing money from unemployed youths in the name of providing jobs to them in police organisations like CISF and CRPF.
The arrested youths have been identified as Ranjit Sharma of Daudnagar, Lakhendra Paswan and Muzaffarpur and Akhilendra Kumar Sinha of Bhojpur.
Father of one of the arrested persons is serving as a carpenter with the Military Engineering Service at Ranchi. Addressing a press conference, city SP ON Bhaskar said the police swung into action following an FIR lodged with the Srikrishnapuri police by CISF''s DIG office in Pataliputra area here a few days ago. However, Bhaskar did not rule out the possibility of a nexus between some employees of the CISF office and the gangsters. "We are investigating this aspect of the case also," he said.
According to him, the matter came to light when a group of four youth reached the CISF office here and produced the letter of their appointment before the authorities of CISF at DIG office here on August 21. The unemployed youths were Anil Kumar, Ajoy Ram, Sanjay Kumar Ram and Sunil Kumar. They told the CISF authorities that they had already made a payment of Rs 10,000 for the appointment. Later, the police raided various parts of the city, including Pataliputra, Aanadpuri and Raja Bazar areas, besides some places in Muzaffarpur, to locate the gang running the racket, the SP said.
