JD(U) sets target of 1 crore members by 2028
Patna: Buoyed by its success in recent elections, the JD(U) on Saturday formally launched the party’s membership drive for 2025-28, announcing a plan to enrol one crore members in the next three years. Last time, it set the target of making 75 lakh members.
The membership drive was formally launched with the renewal of the CM’s membership. “JD(U) national president and the CM Nitish Kumar took membership today and inaugurated the ‘JD-U Membership Campaign 2025-28’,” the party's national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha told the reporters on Saturday. Subsequently, all senior party leaders got their membership renewed.
Jha said this time the party has set a target of enrolling 1 crore members in the next three years, for which an intensive campaign would be launched at the booth level. The party also congratulated Nitish for his rare feat of becoming the chief minister for the 10th time.
Earlier in the day, the JD(U) held a function to felicitate the party workers who toiled hard to ensure its success in the elections. Addressing the function, Jha said it was the result of the meticulous work and commitment with which the organisation worked at the booth level that the party created a new history of victory, surpassing even the strike rate of the 2010 assembly polls.
“When helicopters could not fly due to adverse weather conditions, the CM decided to hold roadshows without any hesitation and sought support from the masses for NDA candidates at 11 places, which is proof of his remarkable work energy and strong spirit,” Jha said. He added that the CM has laid a strong foundation for development, and in the next five years Bihar will certainly be among the top ten states in the country.
Jha, who also happens to be a Rajya Sabha member, said it was a matter of pride for the 13 crore people of Bihar that today JD(U) MLAs have a presence in 37 out of 38 districts, which, he said, shows the depth of public support. “The NDA govt will live up to the people's trust with complete dedication,” he said.
