PATNA: The JD(U) on Tuesday challenged BJP-led NDA to name its non upper caste (sawarn) CM candidate and stop playing game with deprived community.
The challenge from JD(U) came a day after Union minister
Giriraj Singh claimed that NDA will not make a person from upper caste the CM of Bihar. Giriraj’s statement is considered as an attempt of
BJP to counter RJD supremo Lalu Prasad’s ‘backward versus upper caste’ remark at an election rally in Raghopur.
JD(U) spokesman Nihora Prasad Yadav said if the BJP is actually committed to making a person from non-upper caste community the CM of Bihar, what is stopping it from announcing the name in public?
“People of Bihar want to know from BJP why it is making such ambiguous statements. It should clear its stand on CM candidate and name the person who would head the state if NDA comes to power,” said Yadav. He also questioned the intention behind announcement made by Union minister as the NDA has given maximum number of tickets to people from upper caste.
“The four NDA parties have given tickets to 85 upper caste candidates, including 18 Brahmins, 35 Rajputs and 29 Bhumihars,” Yadav said.
