DARBHANGA: Even as respective factions of district RJD unit here are indulged in diatribe to prove superiority of their leaders, junior Union minister, M A Fatmi and state party chief, Abdul Bari Sidiqqui, the opposition leaders are trying hard to grab much of the political ground ahead of the ensuing assembly polls.
Notwithstanding the bickering inside district RJD outfit, party supremo Lalu Prasad''s musical wand has always come to the rescue of electoral candidates here.
However, this time around JD (U), the key opposition party in the state appears to have focused its sight on Mithilanchal, with a view to prepare adequate ground in this traditional bastion of RJD. A district level conference of JD (U) was organised here at the town hall recently. Senior partyman and chairman of JD (U) parliamentary party board, Sharad Yadav, former minister, Harikishore Singh, former chief minister Jagannath Mishra, party''s national general secretary, Brishan Patel were among the prominent party leaders to address the meet.
The JD (U) leaders took a pledge to overthrow the Lalu-Rabri regime in the ensuing assembly polls. Later addressing a press meet on Friday, Sharad Yadav maintained that if NDA government were handed over the responsibility to rule the state by the popular mandate, the law and order scenario in Bihar would improve within three months.
The wife-husband-led regime in Bihar has been resorting to mere flippancy for the last 14 years, Sharad charged. The key reason of backwardness in Bihar is that there has been no change in government for the last 14 years, he said, while quoting Jay Prakash Narayan, who had said that bread should be turned subsequently while cooking to get the proper result.
State unit vice president Umakant Chaudhary, district president Badre Alam, Brajmohan Mishra and Anil Kumar Jha were among those present on the occasion. It may be mentioned here that earlier a galaxy of NDA leaders led by Nitish Kumar had visited Darbhanga in August, on way to Ujaan village, where two persons had been killed in police firing following demonstration to protest inadequate relief distribution among the flood victims.
While returning, the JD (U) and BJP leaders ensured to have dinner at the residence of Umakant Chaudhary where they mingled with local leaders as well as chatted with the media. The leaders clarified that both the constituents of NDA, JD (U) and BJP, were going to take on RJD with firm resolve.
We have learnt from the previous mistakes. Hence we are not going to commit any blunder in the future while sailing on board the NDA boat together, they had quipped. As of now, Lalu cannot goad the electorate by his wand anymore, remarked a JD (U) leader, who appeared too optimistic about the events still to be under wrapped.
