In a gut-wrenching incident, a JD-U leader and husband of a mukhiya, Jainendra Mandal, was allegedly burned alive following a protracted dispute over a 17-acre plot of land at village Kishunpur-Balwa under Dhamdaha police station in Purnia district on Friday afternoon.

Purnia: In a gut-wrenching incident, a JD-U leader and husband of a mukhiya, JainendraMandal, was allegedly burned alive following a protracted dispute over a 17-acre plot of land at village Kishunpur-Balwa under Dhamdaha police station in Purnia district on Friday afternoon.
Kishanganj SP, who is also SP in charge, Purnia, Manoj Kumar, talking to TOI said that tribals were in possession of the disputed land.

The 35-year-old Jainendra Mandal, who also happened to be the husband of Kishunpur-Balwa mukhia Simo Devi, however, claimed that the aforesaid piece of land was bought by him. He was allegedly set ablaze when he tried to oust the tribals and take possession of the land on Friday.
Purnia DM Manish Kumar Verma and SP Manoj Kumar, who rushed to the spot, were camping there till the time of filing of report. The entire village has turned into a fortress with large-scale deployment of forces.
