Patna: Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Bihar and Odisha Police arrested a bank robber, involved in multiple robberies, from Buddha Colony police station area in Patna on Monday, said DSP (law and order) Sangeeta.
Pramod Bind alias Santosh, a resident of the Ghosi police station area of Jehanabad district, is accused of robbing banks in Jamshedpur (Jharkhand), Sheikhpura and Biharsharif, besides neighbouring state Odisha. Police seized over Rs 1 lakh cash from his hideout.
Buddha Colony station house officer (SHO) Sadanand Shah said so far, he accepted his involvement in four cases, even as at least 15 cases are registered against him.
To name a few, the accused was involved in a robbery at a Bank of India branch in Ulidih police station area of Jamshedpur on August 18, 2022. The robbers, posing as CBI officers, took away over 2,324g gold jewellery in 41 sealed packets and over Rs 33 lakh cash. He was also the mastermind behind the daylight robbery of over Rs 22 lakh from an Indian Bank branch in Sheikhpura's Katra Chowk, besides robbing a bank in Odisha in 2023. His gang is also active in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat among other states.
He lived in the Buddha Colony area, hiding his identity. After the Odisha Police received a secret information that he was hiding in the area, a team reached Patna. He was earlier arrested from Gaya in 2017.
