Patna: The two-day state-level inter-divisional para-sports competition 2025-26 commenced on Friday at the Pataliputra Sports Complex. The event is organised by the Patna district administration under the sports department and the Bihar State Sports Authority.
Chief guest Vidur Bharti, district planning officer, inaugurated the tournament along with Anandi Kumar, sports executive of the Bihar State Sports Authority, and Shivaji Kumar, president of the Bihar para sports association, through flag hoisting and balloon release.

Participants marched past to the band of Dhaneshwari Devnandan Girls Higher Secondary School. Abhimanyu Kumar of Saran division administered the oath. The programme was moderated by Abhishek Kumar, an NIS coach and physical education teacher. Around 250 para-athletes, along with assistants and officials from nine divisions, are participating.
Bharti highlighted discipline and sportsmanship, saying that character built through competition is as important as results. Anandi praised the athletes’ determination, while Shivaji encouraged them. District sports officer Om Prakash welcomed guests with saplings and mementoes.
