According to the East Central Railway’s chief public relations officer (CPRO) Birendra Kumar, the Jaynagar-Kurtha DEMU passenger is running twice on both Up and Down directions daily. “In the first trip, it leaves Jaynagar at 8.30am and reaches Kurtha at 10.30am. On its return journey, it leaves Kurtha at 10.45am and reaches Jaynagar at 12.45pm,” he said.

In the second trip, the train leaves Jaynagar at 3pm and reaches Kurtha at 5pm. “On its return journey, it leaves Kurtha at 5.15pm and reaches Jaynagar at 7.15pm,” the CPRO said.

The five-coach train has 358 seats — 112 seats in AC coaches, 234 in non AC coaches and 12 in diesel power coaches. “The Konkan Railway Corporation Limited has handed over 10 advanced and modern DEMU coaches to the Nepal Railway Company Limited (NRCL) to run between Jaynagar and Kurtha in the beginning,” Kumar said.

The NRCL has fixed the train fare in Nepali currency for the train which covers a distance of 34.5km dotted with six stations on its way.

While the fare from Jaynagar to Inarwa is Rs 100 in AC and Rs 20 in non AC, the fare for Khajuri is Rs 125 in AC and Rs 25 in non AC.

Similarly, the fare from Jaynagar to Mahinath Pur station is Rs 175 in AC and Rs 35 in non AC followed by Baidehee Rs 225 in AC and Rs 45 in non AC, Parwaha Rs 275 in AC and Rs 55 in non AC, Janakpur Rs 350 in AC and Rs 70 in non AC and Kurtha from Jaynagar Rs 450 in AC and Rs 90 in non AC.
