India-Nepal border coordination meeting aims for safe Bihar elections

Motihari: Ahead of the Bihar legislative assembly elections-2025, a high-level meeting of the committee was held at the , Raxaul, on Wednesday, which discussed mutual cooperation and coordination to deal with the challenges across the porous border.

The meeting was attended by the DIG, Champaran range, and district magistrates (DMs) and superintendents of police (SPs) of East and West Champaran (Bihar) from Indian side, and DMs and SPs of Parsa and Bara in Nepal.


During the meeting, the main focus was on conducting the Bihar assembly elections-2025 in a clean, fair and peaceful manner. The authorities agreed to strengthen the India-Nepal border, ensure compliance with the , maintain strict vigilance on law and order in the border areas ,exchange intelligence and prevent the movement of chemical drugs, criminal activities, and smuggling of illegal materials, including arms and counterfeit currency. Besides, the authorities discussed to maintain a close watch on all sensitive routes.

During the meeting, they emphasised the need to increase joint patrols by the SSB and Nepal police along the border.

East Champaran DM Saurabh Jorwal said that in view of the assembly elections in Bihar, it was decided to take initiatives to maintain heightened vigilance along the border.
