In a first, bullet removed from teen’s chest at Biharsharif Sadar hospital
Biharsharif: Model Sadar Hospital, Biharsharif, has achieved a major milestone after successfully removing a bullet from the chest of a 13-year-old boy using a C-Arm imaging machine for the first time in the hospital.
The life-saving operation was carried out under the supervision of deputy superintendent of the hospital, Dr Rajeev Ranjan, along with Dr Rohit and the anaesthesia team. The C-Arm system provided real-time X-ray imaging, enabling doctors to precisely locate and extract the bullet lodged near the upper right part of the boy’s chest close to the lung.
The child, Ali Farhan, was brought to the hospital on Thursday evening along with his father Mohammad Sohan, a vegetable seller at Biharsharif Bazar Samiti, after both sustained gunshot injuries in Sufi Nagar area under Biharsharif police station limits. While Sohan was referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) due to a critical facial injury, doctors decided to operate on the child immediately at the sadar hospital considering his condition.
Hospital officials confirmed Farhan is now out of danger, has been shifted to ICU, and has started taking liquid diet. The administration described the successful surgery as a landmark moment for the hospital’s emergency care services.
According to police, the attack was carried out by local miscreants, led by Bechu alias Langda. Sadar SDPO Nurul Haque confirmed the incident and said statements of the victim’s family have been recorded. Police teams are conducting raids to arrest the accused and his associates.
Sources said the father-son duo had allegedly opposed illegal liquor and brown sugar trade in the locality, which is being investigated as a possible motive behind the attack.
The victim’s wife, Tamanna, said the attackers opened fire on her husband and son outside their house while they were returning home after offering night prayers. She said the family had no prior enmity with anyone and the attack was sudden and unprovoked.
