Patna: India Meteorological Department has predicted rain and thunderstorms from Sept 29 to Oct 1 — ‘Saptami’ to ‘Navami’ — in most parts of the state, including Patna.
“Light rainfall and thunderstorms are expected in north Bihar on Sept 29 and 30. Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, are expected in most parts of the state, including Patna, on Sept 30 and Oct 1 during Durga Puja due to formation of a circulation in Bay of Bengal,” Ashish Kumar, director at IMD-Patna, said.
According to a bulletin issued by the IMD on Friday, 18 districts, including West and East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Kaimur, Aurangabad, Suapul, Araria and Kishanganj, are also likely to receive thunderstorms and lightning, along with rain on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a red alert for severe thunderstorms and lightning with rain was issued for some parts of Patna, Vaishali, Lakhisarai, Munger, Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada, Jehanabad, Nalanda and Khagaria districts among others on Friday, even as the state capital sizzled throughout the day. Winds in these areas were expected to blow at a speed of 60 to 70km per hour.
