PATNA: Kinnar Vijay Narayan Pal, founder president of Rashtriya Kinnar Morcha, on Sunday said that in India democracy stood for “De mo ko rashi (give me money) and not for its real meaning.
Pal was in the city to garner support of local eunuchs for the Morcha’s struggle against the removal of Gorakhpur mayor Asha Devi alias Amarnath Yadav and other eunuchs from public posts on the ground that those seats were reserved for women.
Pal is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and at present teaching at the Institute of Engineering and Technology there. He has a son and a daughter.
Pal is not a eunuch. He said that the reason behind declaring himself a eunuch was the growing sense of irresponsibility among people for development.
“In a society where nepotism is at its peak and law and order is deteriorating all over the country only eunuchs, who have no relatives, can work selflessly for upliftment of the masses, he said.
Pal said that he has also written to President APJ Abdul Kalam to look into the matter of removal of eunuchs from public posts. He urged the President to do something to ensure that the interests of this section of society were taken care of. He also said that constitutional amendments should be made, if necessary, for eunuchs.
Pal said that during his stay in Patna he would meet different eunuch organisations and people working for their upliftment. He said that he would also try to raise a group of eunuchs who not only worked for their own group but also for general public.
