PATNA: Sonu, a PhD scholar of IIT Patna, did his alma mater proud by receiving a medal at the Helsinki international marathon held recently in Finland.

Sonu is a Prime Minister’s Research Fellow at the mathematics department of IIT Patna. He is a marathon runner (10 km) and badminton player and is currently in Finland on a short academic visit to the University of Helsinki.

He represented IIT Patna in the Helsinki Marathon 2022 and finished the 10 km run in 49 minutes 59 seconds, attaining an overall rank of 58. He ranked 46th among males, and first among all Indian participants.

In Finland, he also met T V Ganesan, First Secretary/Head of Chancery of the Indian Embassy in Finland and celebrated the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ with the embassy officials.

The entire IIT Patna fraternity congratulated him for his extraordinary achievements.

Sonu received the Helsinki Marathon exclusive medal at the finish of the 10-km marathon.
