HAM(S) Tekari candidate attacked by villagers in Gaya

Gaya: HAM(S) Tekari candidate and sitting MLA Anil Kumar was injured when villagers pelted stones at him at Dighora village in Gaya district during a poll campaign on Wednesday evening. The MLA’s brother and some party workers also received injuries in the incident. The MLA’s campaign vehicle was damaged, police said.

Sources said as soon as the HAM(S) convoy reached Dighora village, local people stopped it and confronted the MLA over the non-construction of a road. Subsequently the villagers turned violent and indulged in stone pelting. The MLA, his brother and some supporters were injured in the stone pelting.

City SP Ramanand Kumar Kaushal said the MLA’s injury was not serious and he was undergoing treatment in the local hospital. Some villagers have been detained in connection with the incident. The other injured were also being treated. The situation is under control, said the City SP.
