PATNA: Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) president
Upendra Kushwaha felicitated 10 government schoolteachers at a function organized at DPCSS Miller High School on the occasion of Guru Purnima on Friday.
Addressing the gathering, Kushwaha appreciated the teachers’ hard work and said they could influence the lives of kids more than anyone else.
Kushwaha, who is also the minister of state for human resource development, urged principals not to indulge teachers in non-academic activities like midday meals, election duty and distribution of items under government schemes.
“Non-academic works deteriorate the quality of teaching. Teachers should concentrate only on teaching, encourage students and groom them,” Kushwaha said. While felicitating the teachers, the minister also sought their blessings by touching their feet.
Those, who were felicitated on the occasion, include B K Pandey (R N College-Hajipur), Baleshwar Roy (Baliram Bhagat College-Samastipur), Pandit Ramshankar Jha (Mahant Harigovind Das High School-Vaishali), Shailendra Kumar Sharma (G D Patliputra Senior Secondary School-Patna), Umesh Lal Sinha (Dunyari Singh High School-Patna), Rameshwar Narayan Prasad (Shankar High School-Nalanda), Shashi Bhushan Rai (High School Patliputra-Patna), Sushila Devi (Rajkrit +2 Senior Secondary School-Nalanda), Abdul Manan (V M Government Inter College-Patna) and Khakan Mahto (Patna Science College).
Felicitation programmes were organized in all districts by RLSP units and teachers honoured with mementos and shawls.
