(SBPDCL) on Friday when a major fire broke out causing an estimated loss of around Rs 20-25 lakh. However, no loss of life was reported in the incident and technical snag is said to be the reason behind the incident.

Fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flame which took almost an hour. The flames were so high that it could be seen from a distance of about 1 km. "As fire tenders reached on time many equipment were saved," said an employee of the sub-station.

Officials said after fire, power supply to around 20 to 25 villages has been hit and it would take them at least a couple of weeks to restore power supply.

Sub-divisional electricity officer (

SDEO

) Kamal Kumar said, "Engineers have been asked to carry out repair work on war footing so that power supply can be restored at the earliest."

One Asmita (name changed), student of Class IX of Rafigunj government school in Aurangabad was attacked with acid by one Mohammad Azhar, resident of Rajanagar police station area of the district. The girl was attacked in her house.

"Azhar broke into the house and poured acid on Asmita and her mother," said police adding Azhar used to follow the girl on her way to school and when she resisted he attacked her with acid.

SHO Shakuntala Kumari said an FIR was lodged in this connection on the statement of victim girl against Azhar, his mother and other family members. Azhar has already been arrested.
