Govt will ensure full security to traders, industrialists: CM

Patna: Chief minister Samrat Choudhary on Sunday assured the business and industrial community of full security, announcing a fixed coordination mechanism between the administration and trade bodies. He said district magistrates and superintendents of police across the state will hold meetings every three months with members of the Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) to address security-related issues and other concerns, and to ensure time-bound resolution.

Speaking after inaugurating the ‘Vyavsayik Samagam’ programme organised by the BCCI during its centenary year in Patna, Choudhary said the state govt would stand firmly with entrepreneurs and investors. “I want to tell you that the state govt will take care of your security. Your security is the govt’s responsibility,” he told the gathering.

Calling “trust” and “security” the two most essential requirements for establishing industries, the CM said the govt is working on both fronts—building confidence among industrialists and ensuring a safe environment for business operations. He added that the administration has been directed to respond swiftly to crime, stating that action is now taken within 24 hours on priority basis whenever an incident occurs. “No one in Bihar can now take the law into their own hands,” he said.

The programme saw participation from more than 250 representatives representing 70 trade organisations from different parts of Bihar, reflecting broad engagement from the state’s business, trade and industry ecosystem.

To accelerate private investment and industrial growth, Choudhary said the govt has formulated the Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Package-2025 and has already introduced amendments to it. He added that further changes would be made, if required. He also invited the BCCI to actively shape policy, saying that if the chamber wants modifications, its delegation should meet the industries minister. The policy, he said, will be aligned with industry requirements and must be implemented on the ground rather than remaining only on paper. Bihar’s “destiny and image” will change with the trust of the business community, he added.

Emphasising the govt’s push for maximum investment and industrial establishment, Choudhary said investors are increasingly being drawn to Bihar, and the BCCI can play a key role as a bridge to bring in more investors. With collective cooperation, he said, Bihar can move from progress to prosperity.

On sports development, he said cricketer Ishan Kishan was honoured recently and Moinul Haq Stadium is being upgraded. He said the govt would request the BCCI to facilitate an IPL team for Bihar to give local players a bigger platform.

Choudhary also lauded the chamber’s milestone, noting that the BCCI, established in 1926, has completed 100 years and has contributed to Bihar’s progress and prosperity. He extended wishes for the institution to continue growing for the next 500 years and to play a larger role in Bihar and the country.
