Patna: The state government on Tuesday suspended two tainted Indian Police Service (IPS) officers – assistant inspector general (inspections), Patna, Aditya Kumar and Purnia SP Daya Shanker.
Suspension of Aditya Kumar came three days after the arrest of four people, including a fraudster, Abhishek Agarwal (42), who was allegedly impersonating as judge of Patna high court and pressuring DGP S K Singhal over the WhatsApp call to close the case against the IPS officer. A case was lodged against Aditya in September 2021 when he was the SSP of Gaya for allegedly violating the state’s anti-liquor laws.

The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of the state police had lodged an FIR against Aditya after the arrest of four people.
Purnia SP Daya Shankar was suspended in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case. On October 11, vigilance sleuths had raided his residences in Patna and Purnia as well as his office and other locations. A sum of nearly Rs 4.5 lakh and jewellery worth Rs 28 lakh were seized from his flats and a shop here.
“During the period of suspension, Aditya and Daya Shankar will report to the office of the inspector general of police, central zone, Patna. They will only get subsistence allowance under rule 4 of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969,” read a part of the order.
