PATNA: The state government has told the Maharashtra police in clear terms that it would lodge kidnapping case against raiding policemen if they continue picking up the alleged accused of their cases from Bihar without prior information to the SP concerned.
Sources said a letter to this effect was sent to both the chief secretary of Maharashtra and Mumbai police commissioner in connection with the arrest of Abdul Qadir Ansari from a village in Sitamarhi in connection with damage to Amar Jawan memorial near Azad Maidan in Mumbai.
They said the letter sent by the chief secretary, Bihar, citing a directive of the then Union home minister, P Chidambaram, that there was clear cut rule that the police of one state would have to give prior information to other state if it entered the latter's jurisdiction. This letter was issued after Bihar CM Nitish Kumar protested in one such case earlier when Karnataka police picked up someone from Bihar's territory without informing the local SP.
